Since last ship model finished in my primary school, I have not touch them again until recent month. I did have fun in playing WOWS a internet game from Wargaming. So why not have a real model in my bedroom?\u00a0After all, most boys will get passion in battleship, a symbol of power and steel.<\/p>\n

As I said, I did not get close to ship model for decade. A small one of 1\/700 scale will suit me and I can spend less time on it. A tiny ship can also have a place in my bookcase. I choose No.77502 ‘HMS Rodney’ pack produced by TAMIYA with PE and metal\u00a0gun barrels. They cost me about CNY100 (\u2248USD15). They are listed in fig.1.<\/p>\n

So I set up the ship just by following the\u00a0manual. Exchange some parts into PE at most. Of course, the soul of a battleship is the gun. Replacing the plastic parts by metal\u00a0barrels makes it handsome! For\u00a0a long period, deck of battleships are\u00a0stitching woods. Special steps\u00a0must be done during painting. Usually, replace the deck with real wooden board or cover-spray painting will work well on big scale model such as 1\/200 or 1\/350. But only a little examples I can find on the internet for 1\/700 model. Besides, what I plan to finish is a “practice work” of ship model, which will not require too much\u00a0effect. At the end, I\u00a0spray painted the deck and drew the wooden\u00a0texture by hand as fig.3. \u56fe.3(Fig.3)<\/p>\n \u6309\u7167\u8bf4\u660e\u4e66\u4e00\u6b65\u6b65\u7ec4\u88c5\u3001\u6d82\u88c5\uff0c\u6700\u540e\u6548\u679c\u8fd8\u4e0d\u9519\uff0c\u5982\u56fe4\u3002<\/p>\n Assembling and painting. The\u00a0platform of the model, an “ocean”\u00a0platform. People use two main materials to build the model platform: glass glue\/silicone or\u00a0gypsum. Waves also have two method to present: molding or forming by hand. The easiest and cheapest way I choose is gypsum\u00a0molding. With\u00a0tinfoil.<\/p>\n \u9521\u7b94\u7eb8\u600e\u4e48\u505a\u6210\u6c34\u7eb9\u6a21\u5177\u5462\uff1f\u5f88\u7b80\u5355\uff0c\u5bb6\u91cc\u7684\u53a8\u7528\u9521\u7b94\u7eb8\u53d6\u5408\u9002\u5927\u5c0f\uff0c\u63c9\u6210\u56e2\uff0c\u7136\u540e\u518d\u5c55\u5e73\uff0c\u5c31\u53d8\u6210\u6c34\u6ce2\u7eb9\u7684\u6837\u5b50\u4e86\uff01\u5982\u56fe5,6\u3002<\/p>\n How can\u00a0tinfoil form\u00a0gypsum into water waves? Simple. Fetch proper piece of\u00a0tinfoil you need, crumple it, and\u00a0unbend it. Check fig.5 and fig.6.<\/p>\n \u56fe.5(Fig.5)<\/p>\n \u56fe.6(Fig.6)<\/p>\n \u518d\u7528\u8f7b\u6728\u7247\u7ec4\u5408\u56f4\u6210\u6a21\u5177\u4fa7\u8fb9\uff0c\u5982\u56fe7\u3002<\/p>\n Woods are used to set up the rest parts of the mold as fig.7.<\/p>\n \u56fe.7(Fig.7)<\/p>\n \u5c31\u53ef\u4ee5\u6d47\u7b51\u4e86\u3002\u4eff\u7167\u7f51\u4e0a\u7684\u591a\u79cd\u8bf4\u6cd5\uff0c\u6211\u914d\u7f6e\u7684\u77f3\u818f\u6bd4\u4f8b\u662f\uff1a<\/p>\n Start casting! My formula is learned from internet:<\/p>\n \u77f3\u818f\u7c89\uff1a\u767d\u4e73\u80f6\uff1a\u6c34 = 5\u676f\uff1a3\/4\u676f\uff1a2\u676f<\/p>\n Gypsum powder : white latex(glue) : water = 5 cups : 3\/4 cups : 2 cups<\/p>\n \u53e6\u5916\u7279\u522b\u6ce8\u610f\u7684\u662f\uff0c\u4e3a\u4e86\u589e\u52a0\u77f3\u818f\u7b51\u578b\u7684\u5f3a\u5ea6\uff0c\u6211\u5206\u4e24\u6b21\u6d47\u7b51\u77f3\u818f\uff0c\u4e24\u6b21\u4e4b\u95f4\u94fa\u4e86\u4e00\u5757\u6d78\u6e7f\u7684\u7eb1\u5e03\u4f5c\u4e3a\u9aa8\u67b6\u3002\u6d47\u7b51\u5b8c\u6210\u4ee5\u540e\u5982\u56fe8\u3002<\/p>\n Additionally, I\u00a0poured the mixture in two steps. I placed a piece of wet gauze between them. The gauze can work\u00a0as the frame of the platform and strengthen it. It look like real water surface when I demold the\u00a0tinfoil! Remember, don’t waste the\u00a0gypsum\u00a0fragment you dig out, its useful later. An “ocean” platform can not leave neither waves nor\u00a0spindrift. Most articles in the internet talk about using model AB\u00a0putty, but I realized that I shall fix the normal AB glue(epoxide resin) with\u00a0gypsum\u00a0fragment. Shape it into\u00a0spindrift layer by layer. Well, the result is much far from surprise I think.\u00a0Ragged\u00a0gypsum\u00a0fragment appears as the bubble and white water of waves! Fig.10 shows the appearance before painting.<\/p>\n \u56fe.10(Fig.9)<\/p>\n \u6700\u540e\u7528\u4e19\u70ef\u989c\u6599\uff08\u4e8b\u5b9e\u4e0a\uff0c\u6211\u5236\u4f5c\u6240\u6709\u6a21\u578b\u7684\u5730\u70b9\u90fd\u662f\u5728\u5367\u5ba4\uff0c\u4e3a\u4e86\u5b89\u5168\u8d77\u89c1\uff0c\u5305\u62ec\u6a21\u578b\u672c\u8eab\u5728\u5185\u7684\u90e8\u4ef6\uff0c\u6240\u6709\u4e0a\u8272\u90fd\u7528\u7684\u662f\u65e0\u6bd2\u7684\u4e19\u70ef\u989c\u6599\uff09\u7ed9\u6c34\u9762\u4e0a\u8272\u3002\u2018\u7f57\u5fb7\u5c3c\u2019\u53f7\u96b6\u5c5e\u82f1\u56fd\u7687\u5bb6\u6d77\u519b\uff0c\u82f1\u56fd\u5730\u5904\u5317\u5927\u897f\u6d0b\uff0c\u6c34\u9762\u989c\u8272\u81ea\u7136\u4ee5\u5317\u5927\u897f\u6d0b\u4e3a\u84dd\u672c\uff0c\u6240\u4ee5\u641c\u7d22\u4e86\u4e00\u4e9b\u5317\u5927\u897f\u6d0b\u7684\u6d0b\u9762\u56fe\u7247\u4f5c\u4e3a\u914d\u8272\u53c2\u7167\u3002\u5982\u56fe11\u3002<\/p>\n I use\u00a0acrylic color to paint the “ocean” surface of the platform (Actually I paint all of my models by acrylic color because\u00a0of its safety and nontoxic feature). HMS Rodney sever in UK located in North Atlantic. So I search for some\u00a0North Atlantic ocean pictures as my sample. As fig.11.<\/p>\n \u56fe.11(Fig.11)<\/p>\n \u6700\u540e\u518d\u901a\u8fc7\u84dd\u6e10\u53d8\u8272\u3001\u767d\u8272\u5e72\u626b\u7684\u65b9\u6cd5\u7ed9\u6d6a\u82b1\u4e0a\u8272\uff0c\u6574\u4e2a\u5730\u53f0\u5728\u9634\u5904\u9759\u6b62\u4e86\u4e24\u5929\u81f3\u77f3\u818f\u548c\u989c\u8272\u5f7b\u5e95\u5e72\u900f\uff0c\u7528\u767d\u4e73\u80f6\u5c06\u8239\u6a21\u5f7b\u5e95\u56fa\u5b9a\u5728\u5730\u53f0\u4e0a\uff0c\u5927\u529f\u544a\u6210\uff01<\/p>\n A little decoration with light blue and white by dry sweeping.
